Through adoption of the Framework, Victoria's emergency management sector will have a consistent and coordinated approach in assessing its capacity, capability and performance through activities such as reviews, evaluations, monitoring and reporting.

The Framework provides a starting point in ensuring that lessons from emergencies are identified and turned into sustainable improvements that will make a lasting difference for Victorian communities.

The Monitoring and Assurance Framework for Emergency Management was released on 19 June 2015.

Effective 17 October 2018, legislative amendments to the Emergency Management Act 2013 changed the name of the Monitoring and Assurance Framework for Emergency Management to the Assurance Framework for Emergency Management.

Any reference to the Monitoring and Assurance Framework for Emergency Management should be taken to be the Assurance Framework for Emergency Management.

Subject to approval by the Minister for Emergency Services, IGEM will publish a refreshed version of the framework in 2019.
