On Thank a First Responder Day (External link), we say thank you for the incredible work they do in and for our communities.

Whether it’s our police, firefighters, paramedics and emergency call-takers who respond every day to emergency situations, to the marine rescue teams  and lifesavers working in and around the water, or the SES volunteers responding to road rescue, floods and storms, we owe every one of them a huge debt of gratitude - as well as the families who support them through it all.

First Responders: Australian Stories

A four-part series of 12 first responders sharing their experiences helping the community

When Victorians are in a crisis, first responders are there to help our community. It’s an unfortunate fact that while on the job, many first responders are victims of crime and abuse.

Crime Stoppers Victoria with Motorola Solutions Foundation have a four-part podcast (External link) to acknowledge the incredible work first responders do in our community, while highlighting their risk of being harmed or abused while trying to help.

By understanding more about how first responders serve the community, and what they experience; it is easier to empathise and learn what we can do to ensure they can do their job efficiently as well as get home safely.

The podcasts (External link) feature Ambulance Victoria, ESTA Triple Zero, Fire Rescue Victoria, Life Saving Victoria, Victoria Police and Victoria State Emergency Service.
