You’re invited to celebrate diversity and inclusion in Victorian emergency management at Carnival celebrations this Sunday 23 January, followed by Pride March on Sunday 6 February.

Midsumma is Australia's premier queer arts and cultural festival (External link) running between 23 January and 13 February 2022.

Midsumma Carnival - 23 January

Carnival is an iconic outdoor celebration that has become one of the biggest highlights in Victoria’s LGBTIQA+ annual calendar. The event provides a fitting opening to the Midsumma festival each year.

On Sunday 23 January members of our Emergency Management Pride Network Victoria will be ready to ‘say hi’ to visitors at their stand in the Stalls Village (External link) from 11 am – 5 pm in Melbourne’s Alexandra Gardens.

Midsumma Carnival is an all-ages, family friendly event and dropping by our Pride Network’s stall is a great way to meet some representatives from a number of Victoria’s emergency agencies and hear about diversity and inclusion in our sector. You can also find out about some of the many roles helping Victorians before, during and after emergencies.

Pride March - 6 February

Pride is one of Midsumma’s signature events, where over 7400 marchers usually take to the streets down Fitzroy Street in St Kilda each year and over 45,000 people line the streets and balconies along the march route to show their support.

On Sunday 6 February, members from all of Victoria’s emergency agencies will join colleagues to demonstrate support for Victoria’s LGBTIQ+ communities and our LGBTIQ+ sector members who keep our communities safe.

Celebrate with workmates, family or friends, as ally or as queer by joining this spectacular act of unity.

Community safety

Midsumma continues to work with the State Government to determine the safest way to deliver its events.

It recommends for the safety of you, other attendees and event staff, that you wear a face-mask whenever physical distancing is not possible, to protect yourself and others around you.

Please do not attend should you be presenting any symptoms of COVID-19 (External link). In that case you should get tested and isolate immediately.
