Breaking the Bias

Each and every day, women in our community are breaking the bias and are becoming role models for future generations of women.

As with every year, this International Women's Day we’re celebrating the incredible contributions and achievements of women across the emergency management sector.

International Women’s Day (8 March) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.

The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality.

The campaign theme for International Women’s Day 2022 is break the bias – in aim to create:

  • A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination.
  • A world that is diverse, equitable and inclusive.

You can’t be what you can’t see

So many women across Victoria use their unique skills and experiences to enrich their communities and pave the way for the next generation. Yet these contributions are often underrepresented in the Australian Honours System.

One way of improving the influence of an outstanding woman’s work is by nominating them for an Australian Honour: vic.gov.au/recognitionmatters (External link)

Together, we can forge women’s equality, collectively we can all #BreakTheBias.
