Regular monitoring enables the Inspector-General for Emergency Management (IGEM) to determine if the implementation of state-based improvements in emergency management arrangements are effective and sustainable in the long-term, and are actively helping to keep communities safe.
IGEM has two broad monitoring activities:
- implementation monitoring to track the implementation and effectiveness of agreed actions and recommendations
- performance monitoring to proactively identify emerging performance issues, risks and trends.
All IGEM’s assurance activities are guided by the Assurance Framework for Emergency Management which provides the foundation for a coordinated and collaborative approach to sector-wide assurance.
