Through the Inquiry into the 2019-20 Victorian Fire Season (External link) the Inspector-General made 32 recommendations to improve the State’s emergency management arrangements and now monitors and reports on progress of departments and agencies with implementing actions in response those recommendations.

In December 2022 Inspector-General Tony Pearce will be visiting select locations to catch up with communities significantly affected by the 2019–20 bushfires.

These informal catch ups are open to all community members to hear and share information about progress of implementation of the Inquiry recommendations.

Catch ups are scheduled in seven locations through December 2022, with more locations to follow in 2023.

Monitoring reports are delivered annually, with arrangements for their public release at the discretion of the Victorian Government.

Information on the Fire Season Inquiry and community catch ups is available at igem.vic.gov.au (External link) or by calling (03) 8684 7900.
