In December 2022 the Inspector-General for Emergency Management Tony Pearce is visiting select locations to catch up with communities significantly affected by the 2019–20 bushfires.

The independent Inquiry into the 2019–20 Victorian Fire Season identified a range of opportunities for improvement to how Victoria prepares, responds, and recovers from emergencies.

Through their independent Fire Season Inquiry the Inspector-General made 32 recommendations to improve the State’s emergency management arrangements.

The Inspector-General now monitors and reports on progress of departments and agencies with implementing actions in response to the Inquiry’s recommendations.

These informal catch ups are open to all community members to hear and share information about progress of implementation of the recommendations, and how Victoria is working towards being better prepared for emergencies.

Catch ups are scheduled in 7 locations through December 2022, with more locations to follow in 2023.

Light refreshments will be available 30 minutes beforehand.
