The independent Fire Season Inquiry has concluded information collection under Phase 1, focusing on Victoria’s preparedness for and response to the 2019-20 fire season.

Inspector-General Tony Pearce has welcomed contributions from many Victorians to the Inquiry, with those from Victoria’s North East, Alpine and Gippsland fire-affected areas providing firsthand insights of their bushfire experiences.

During this phase, we’ve heard views and experiences through:

  • 360 people who joined one of our 26 community meetings
  • 455 submissions
  • 100 survey responses.

Our sincere thanks to all those who gave their time to do this.

The Inspector-General is preparing his first Inquiry report into Victoria’s preparedness for and response to the 2019-20 fire season. This will be delivered to government by 31 July 2020.

Updates on the Inquiry’s progress will be available on this website and through Twitter @IGEM_Vic (External link) and Facebook @IGEMVictoria (External link)
